The Sherriff's Office and Court house are both very important businesses in Meeker, as they help protect the citizens of Meeker as well as help them with important government issues. Both businesses have been around since the founding of Meeker. Before the courthouse was built, the land that it stands upon was the main parade grounds and rodeo grounds. The courthouse has stayed in the building in the middle of town. In 2015, the Sherriff's Office got a new building next to the courthouse, utilizing part of the Meeker Elementary School building. Below you can see pictures of the two buildings as well as the history of them.
Founding:
In 1887 land was bought to build the County Courthouse. The land originally had the Antler's Hotel on it that was built to be an opera house. When Opera didn't become a big thing, the land was sold and given to the county. This land was used until 1935 when the famous courthouse across the street was built. This building was originally just the main part, and additions to the sides were added in 1956. Along with this came remodeling and landscaping of the outside as well as the additions. Up until 2015 the courthouse also was the location of the sheriff's office. This change was made to accommodate the growing department as well as helping turn the old elementary school into their office.

Today:
As of 2020 the courthouse and sheriff's office are two different buildings, located right next to each other. They are both very crucial businesses to Meeker, and the town would surly be less safe and well run without these two businesses. See what the building use to look like here, and take a tour of the inside of the Sheriff Office and and the Courthouse here!
